The entire Universe that you see and experience is tainted! It isn't true! It isn't The Truth about the way things are or what is really happening. Your perception (and it is only that - a perception) of every person you've ever met is only partially true. Your perception of what is really happening between people as you observe them is only partially true. Your perception of what happened and what it all means for every situation you've ever been in is only partially true. Well its your truth. But it isn't THE TRUTH.
 
O.K. those are some pretty strong statements. The point is this - we, as human beings, filter absolutely everything. The things we hear, see, and feel must go through our filtration system. Each of us has a slightly different filtration system. But we ALL have them. Your filters are the fears, beliefs, judgments, expectations, and attachments that you have to those expectations. They come from your parents, your family, your society, your ancestors, your friends, and your experiences.
 
The Truth is like a crystal clear window. Each fear or limiting belief you hold adds a layer of oily film or a big splash of mud on the window. Pretty soon all you can see is the fact that there is light on the other side. The images are very blurred, if they are visible at all. So your mind makes up the rest.
 
This is your lens of perception. This is what you call "how life is." At best you only see in half or partial truths.
 
The hardest person to really see and understand is yourself. Again, even looking in the mirror or observing yourself, you are looking through your dirty window. Many people with eating disorders still see a fat person when they look in the mirror. Even if they have become abnormally thin. This is an extreme example. Yet its not that much different from how "off" our own perception is from The Truth about the way things are.
 
Unfortunately our psychic abilities aren't immune from the dirty window either. Its very hard to comprehend but everything we hear, see, and sense has to also come through our filters. This includes prophecy, readings, even visions. So we have to use discernment when we are sharing or receiving information from others.
 
It is no co-incidence that what destroys your perception of The Truth is the same thing that holds back your reaching your highest potential. In a metaphysical sense its what halts your Ascension. According to Serapis through Tony Stubbs, Ascension is nothing more than a shift in vibration. The scum on your window is preventing you from permanently attaining a higher vibration.
 
Whether you are interested in Ascension or just making your life work, there is no escaping taking a look at how much dirt is on your window.
 
Its time to get out the glass cleaner!
 
If its true that seeing yourself is the hardest thing, then how can the window ever get clean?
 
I've found that looking at the various areas of life and assessing what's working and what isn't is a good place to start. Consider things such as work, an intimate relationship or the lack of one, family, friends, other relationships, prosperity, health, happiness, hobbies, creativity, and fun. All areas can use some improvement. But I recommend starting with what really isn't working.
 
How big is the gap between what you are currently experiencing and your ideal? Any gap at all means the window is dirty and you need to discover and transmute the limiting fears, beliefs, judgments, attachments, and expectations.

Who do you speak with in your prayers? Your Higher Self? God (by any name)? Some one or some thing else? I carefully chose the words "speak with" as opposed to "speak to." Prayer is a two way experience. What you say (in every moment) in your mind or out loud is you speaking to God. Please think about the ramifications of what I've just said. God always speaks back - just not necessarily in the ways you might expect or desire.
 
Whoever it is that you speak with in prayer, let them know that you want to understand The Truth about your fears and other things that are limiting you. And that you want to be shown a way to transmute those things. Look for all the subtle signs. You may not get an image or words in your head. You might have to go through an experience that brings up a fear or shows you how judgmental you are about something. I know that doesn't sound very pleasant - but it is often the way. You may feel drawn to a book or a workshop and aren't sure why. The answer to the prayer is probably inside somewhere. And it can be as simple as one word from a complete stranger.

We can no longer hide from our shadow sides. We must look at them square in the eye and discover the lesson they each hold.
